Karachi Circular Railway Steel tracks still alive!

THIS is apropos of news report “The Ganga Ram’s village chugs on horse train” (March 11). The Karachi Circular Railway is dead and buried but luckily for us the steel tracks are still fine. Sir Ganga Ram’s concept can be used for KCR. Instead of a horse driven carriage we can have a bus on wheels in place of their traditional tyres. We can also modify the bus tyres with a small contraption to run on train tracks. Paris Metro runs on rubber tires without any noise and the ride is smooth.

The spending will be done on eco-friendly features like its health and sanitation, medical supplies and services, sewage waste management and air pollution, schools and educational centres, public services like electricity, water, gas, public transport and traffic congestion.

Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan has criticised Interior Minister Rehman Malik for using the term Punjabi Taliban for militants.
In a statement on Thursday, Khan demanded that Mr Malik withdraw his statement and tender an apology to the nation for linking militants with provinces or communities.
Punjab Governor Salman Taseer said on Thursday that more academic disciplines would be introduced at the Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) to extend more opportunities to students in diverse fields.
Mr Taseer was talking at the university’s ninth convocation held at Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad.
