Will MQM sail or wail in Punjab Pakistan.At a time when, barring a few that are national in character, most of the political parties are regional, the MQM’s decision to have its presence in Punjab is a good omen. The maiden conventions held simultaneously in three cities on Sunday got a good response. The party chief, Altaf Hussain’s diagnosis of problems was also right. He was absolutely right when he talked against the feudal hold, class-based education system and the much accursed habit of loan eating.

Gilani, Singh set to meet in Bhutan Pakistan.External Affairs Minister S M Krishna Monday said a bilateral meeting between India and Pakistan cannot be ruled out during the XVIth Saarc Summit.

No CNG on Tuesdays in Pakistan.Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited Monday announced one-day a week of gas loadshedding at all the CNG stations in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the SNGPL’s General Manager of Transmission, an official notification in this regard has been issued and that the loadshedding is set to continue till July 31. Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has constituted a 3 members Fact Finding Committee headed by Mr. Abdul Rauf Chaudhry, Cabinet Secretary to determine whether the then Director General, Military Intelligence gave an order to police official(s) for washing/ cleaning of the crime scene of the murder of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.

Zardari, PM take stock of energy crises.Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani met President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday at Aiwan-e-Sadr and exchanged views on his visit to Bhutan, expected meeting with Indian PM, energy crisis, telephonic conversation with Nawaz Sharif and overall situation in the country.

EU tariff-free access to Pakistan on cards .The European Commission is moving to give Pakistan tariff-free access to the European Union for its exports, part of an EU effort to bolster the economy of the strategically important country, EU diplomats said on Saturday.
The Commission’s proposal, which is still being discussed internally, is part of the EU’s military and diplomatic project for Afghanistan. EU governments, led by the UK, view economic growth and stability in Pakistan–where a number of the militant groups fighting coalition forces in Afghanistan are based–as crucial to fighting terrorism and drug smuggling in Afghanistan.

.AC reserves verdict against Sharif Brothers.PakistanAccountability Court has adjourned the plea filed here by the National Accountability Bureau to restore three corruption references against Pakistan Muslim League chief Mian Nawaz Sharif and his family till April 26. Justice Wamiq Javed of Accountability Court-2 in Rawalpindi reserved verdict on the plea to restore corruption references against Sharif Brothers, which was expected to be made public on Saturday and adjourned the hearing till April 26 as the court was overwhelmed with cases.
As per media reports judge Wamiq Javed of AC No 2 took up the application for hearing seeking revival of corruption references against Sharif brothers, senator Ishaq and his family members. The NAB counsel through the application has prayed the court for revival of pending references including default on payment of loan by Ittefaq Foundaries, default on payment of tax by Hudabia paper mills and Raiwind assets.
In earlier hearing, NAB Deputy Prosecutor General Sultan Mansoor while giving arguments in the court said if no final decision would come then the court could review it. He argued the decision to keep references pending against Sharif brothers was not judicial but it was of administrative nature. It was responsibility of the court to decide the matter which had been brought forth, he added.

.Sania kins reach Lahore Shoaib Malik’s father-in-law and Sania Mirza’s father Imran Mirza has arrived in Lahore today with Sania’s sister Anam Mirza and other relatives. They have been taken from the Allama Iqbal Airport to a local five-star hotel where the eighth floor has been booked for them.
Sania’s family reached Lahore from Delhi through a PIA flight PK-271. While talking with media after arriving at the airport, Imran Mirza said that we are happy to reach Pakistan. We have come here for attending the ceremonies of valima and reception.
Replying to a question, he said that we pray to God for success of this marriage. “We are extremely excited to be here …. I hope the marriage is successful,” Imran Ali Mirza, father of Sania Mirza, said while talking to media men on his arrival at the airport. He was accompanied with Anam Mirza, sister of Sania Mirza besides other members of Mirza family. An entire floor of a local hotel has been reserved for accommodating the guests. Meanwhile, addressing a press conference in Sialkot along with MPA Chaudhry Akhlaq, Shoaib’s brother-in-law Imran Zafar said that they are completely following the government’s policy of avoiding unnecessary electricity.
Their house is being illuminated through generator and Wapda is not extending any undue favour. He said that Shoaib and Sania would reach Sialkot tomorrow for attending their reception. Imran Zafar said that journalists would be fully cooperated at the reception but they would not be allowed to cover the ceremony.
He said that he himself is making all the arrangements of Shoaib’s valima and there is no interference by the city administration. MPA Chaudhry Akhlaq said on this occasion that there is no ban on serving more than one dish. This may be recalled that all decorative lights were taken off from the house of Shoaib after Wapda made a raid for illuminating it.
Meanwhile, the newly wed couple Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza attended a dinner hosted by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in their honour on Friday. According to details, the couple left the hotel from the back door without any protocol to attend the dinner whereas despite using main gate the super star couple entered the PM House from back door.
It was also reported that PM, First Lady, Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza were present at the dinner. Prime Minister expressed best wishes for the newly wedded couple. The Prime Minister presented some gifts to the star couple which they accepted with thanks.

Pakistan fast bowler, Mohammed Sami expressed the hope that he would do well in the World Twenty20 in West Indies.
Sami, who was once even compared with Australia’s Brett Lee and teammate Shoaib Akhtar for his raw pace, candidly admitted that the way his career started, he could have gone on to become one of Pakistan’s leading wicket takers in both Tests and limited over cricket.“Yes I started very well in international cricket, but unfortunately I didn’t do as well later on as I should have,” cricistan.com quoted Sami as saying.
But he expressed the hope that he would do well in future. “I am hoping that I will do well in future and Insha Allah the fielders will start backing me up as well,” he said. However Sami is delighted to have been selected in the T20 squad for the upcoming ICC World Twenty in West Indies, and said he is aware of his responsibilities as he was replacing one of best T20 bowlers, Umar Gul, in the team.
“Yes, I am replacing one of the best T20 bowlers around, and of course there will be a lot of pressure, but I am up for the challenge,” Sami said. “Despite representing Pakistan in a number of Test matches and ODIs, I have never played for Pakistan in the T20 format. I will try to contribute towards the team’s success,” he added.
Sami also thanked former captains Imran Khan and Wasim Akram for supporting him throughout his career and helping him in improving his game. “Imran Khan is one person who has supported me throughout, and I am very grateful to him. He and Wasim Akram are the two players I grew up watching. They are my cricketing heroes,” he said.
